Coastal Post: Remote Visits Part VII Interview
The Coastal Post is a website designed to create a dialogue about contemporary art and artists around the country. At The Coastal Post we collaborate with visual artists to create rich and varied content. The studio visits take many forms; interviews, profiles, projects, photo essays, and papers. Our focus is to establish a discussion surrounding art and studio practice that many times goes overlooked in the greater art world.
Remote Visits Part VII:
"In choosing a grouping of artists for the Coastal Post Remote Visits Part VII, I was struck by how many of the works alluded to the body or its relationship to space, either through direct representation, or abstractly through material, fiber, pattern, motif, space and architecture. There is also a dichotomy represented between the natural and man-made, and the slippages between the two. What has the fragmentation of this past year produced in deep moments of focus and reflection? and how has working in a studio/home while self-distancing changed the ways artists create? The works in this selection exemplify the past year of art making, where a honing in and a focus on detail are made paramount, and where we often see the vulnerability of the hand."-Adam Liam Rose
