In March of 2026 I did a month-long residency at New Artist Residency.

During my time at Nes, I explored the rugged landscape around Skagaströnd. In response, I created a series of paintings that explore both the distinctive colors and terrain of the area. I was particularly interested in the unique contours created by clusters of snow and how the white forms contrast with the rest of the landscape. I was also fascinated by how the land is malleable, being constantly changed by the weather, wind and the unseen movement of tectonic plates.

About Nes Artist Residency:

Nes Artist Residency (Nes Listamiðstöð) is an international multidisciplinary residency established 2008 in Skagaströnd, a small village in Northwest Iceland. The studio at Fjörubraut 8 was once the fish processing plant of Skagaströnd. Nes provides international artists with a workspace and accommodation in a shared house, and the freedom to create as they wish.
