Work in Progress, Textile Arts Center, New York, NY (2016)
During the month of April 2017, I worked as a resident at the Textile Arts Center's former Manhattan location. As part of my month-long residency, I explored the surrounding area of Greenwich Village by collecting artifacts and creating unique color palettes. This field research inspired a series of small, woven collages that were inspired by the uniqueness of the neighborhood. The Work in Progress program came at a pivotal juncture in my art career where I was learning to balance the new demands of parenthood with my studio practice.
About Work In Progress:
Textile Arts Center’s Work in Progress (TAC WIP) is a window into the studio practice of contemporary artists and designers that engages the public in a dialogue with the field of textiles. For one month, WIP residents develop and showcase their work and practice in TAC’s studio. As part of the program, WIP residents host events, lectures, and workshops that relate to their practice for the community.
